New Homestead Exemption Rules Effective September 1, 2011
The Texas Legislature recently approved new standards of documentation when applying for a Homestead Exemption. As of September 1, 2011, homebuyers are required to provide the following when making application to their county appraisal district:
*Driver's License or ID card - Must list the physical address of primary residence*Vehicle Registration - Must list the physical address of primary residence (Special provisions apply if you do not own a vehicle)
*Your Residential Homestead Application - Must list the physical address of primary residenceFor additional information, check your county appraisal district's website.
